Oblique Phase Two RC Drilling Results Confirm Broad Zones of Gold
Mineralisation and Define Key Structure
Key Points:
• Assay results have been received from the 2,574m reverse circulation (RC) program across the Oblique
Prospect at the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee Gold Project in the northern Yandal Greenstone Belt.
•
The results confirm the presence of multiple mineralised structures cross-cutting the magnetic stratigraphy.
Notable intercepts include:
o
o
24m @ 1.8 g/t Au from 60m (YRLRC1177),
3m @ 11. 4g/t Au from 102m (YRLRC1175),
o
9m @ 1.9 g/t Au from 63m (YRLRC1171),
o
including 2m @ 16.9g/t Au from 102m
including 2m @ 6.5g/t Au from 66m
13m @ 1.1g/t Au from 93m (YRLRC1169)
•
Geological interpretation of results suggests a large structure, designated OBL01, as a major prospect
scale control on mineralisation. Significantly, this structure is essentially un-tested to the northwest
and southeast, potentially opening up additional exploration targets peripheral to the main Oblique
mineralisation trend.
•
Preparation has commenced for the next phase of drilling, which is expected to commence late Q1 or early
Q2 2024 and include follow-up of key positions at Oblique as well as first pass drilling at two other highpriority prospects: Quarter Moon and New England Granite.
•
The Company is well funded after a successful $4 million capital raise in November 2023.

Commenting on the new results, Yandal Resources’ Managing Director, Mr Tim Kennedy, said: We’re
pleased that results from this program have confirmed our view that Oblique has large-scale mineralisation
potential. Most importantly, these results highlight for the first time the importance of the cross-cutting structures
as a key control on mineralisation and provide a focus for exploration moving forward. The main OBL01
structure, which hosts a number of strong intercepts, including 24m @ 1.8g/t Au, remains open to the northwest
and also to the southeast, where the magnetite-rich unit exhibits zones of demagnetisation and is, therefore, a
compelling target. Other interpreted parallel structures are evident in the magnetic imagery and will also be a
focus of ongoing exploration. We are excited by the opportunity that Oblique presents and look forward to
commencing the next phase of drilling, which will also include testing our other priority targets at Quarter Moon
and New England Granite.

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX: YRL, “Yandal Resources” or the “Company”) is pleased to advise that
it has received all assay results from the 14-hole (2,406m) RC drilling program (with an additional
168m of drilling extending three previous drilled RC holes), completed at the Oblique (E 53/1882)
Prospect within the Ironstone Well – Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project (see Figure 1).
Results received from drilling across Oblique have:
•
Highlighted broader and higher-grade mineralisation where previous drilling was unable to
effectively test the target due to difficult ground conditions,
•
Refined the geometry of broad and higher-grade mineralisation in the north, associated with
quartz veining within an interpreted north-west striking north-east dipping structure (designated
OBL01), which remains open along strike and down plunge,
o
•
Critically, this structure is relatively un-tested outside of the main Oblique trend.
Identified a number of potential parallel structures to the south that are open along strike and
at depth.
BACKGROUND
Oblique is located approximately 6km northwest along strike from the 268,000oz Flushing Meadows
Resource and 45km south of Northern Star’s (ASX: NST) Jundee Mine (see Figure 1). Oblique and
Flushing Meadows are adjacent to the Barwidgee Shear Zone, a major regional mineralised structure.
Previous drilling highlighted that Oblique has strongly anomalous gold over a 1.9km long zone and
returned numerous intercepts, some of which are broad and contain higher-grade cores.
A review of previous drilling indicated that mineralisation occurs in multiple sub-parallel
positions with many holes ending in mineralisation or not having effectively tested the full
width of the host stratigraphic sequence. The scale of the regolith and surface anomaly, combined
with the limited effectiveness of previous drilling, prompted the prioritisation of Oblique for drilling in
2023. The recently completed RC program aimed to:
•
Further test mineralisation within the currently defined Exploration Target extents,
•
Test for mineralisation 400m south of previous RC drilling and
•
Obtain several intercepts of mineralisation within fresh rock.

TECHNICAL SUMMARY
RC Drilling Results
The Oblique RC program comprised 14 holes for 2,406m along 1,100m of strike. In addition to
these holes, three previously drilled RC holes were extended for a total of 168m. Despite difficult
drilling conditions, all holes were completed to the designed depth. The program successfully achieved
its purpose, namely to:
•
Further test mineralisation within the currently defined Exploration Target extents,
•
Test for mineralisation 400m south of previous RC drilling and
•
Obtain several intercepts of mineralisation within fresh rock.
High water volumes, particularly within quartz veining, around intrusive contacts and high sulphide
zones, meant that wet samples were recovered in lieu of dry samples, with some evidence of sample
volume loss observed, particularly in deeper holes.
Results for all submitted samples have been received. Significant intercepts are summarised below,
illustrated in Figures 2 to 7, and listed in Tables 1 and 2.
o
o
24m @ 1.8 g/t Au from 60m (YRLRC1177),
3m @ 11.4 g/t Au from 102m (YRLRC1175),
o
9m @ 1.9 g/t Au from 63m (YRLRC1171),
o
including 2m @ 16.9 g/t Au from 102m
including 2m @ 6.5 g/t Au from 66m
13m @ 1.1 g/t Au from 93m (YRLRC1169)
The results build on previous RC drilling completed in October 2023 (see ASX release 25th October
2023).
Geology
The Oblique Prospect is interpreted to be hosted within the same Archaean greenstone volcanosedimentary sequence (greenschist facies metamorphosed) as the Company’s nearby 268,000oz
Flushing Meadows Mineral Resource. The prospect is characterised by a prominent magnetic northwest striking magnetic high (see Figure 2). Limited historical mapping identified chert, shale, and
felsic/intermediate volcaniclastics outcropping across the prospect. Previous historic drilling confirmed
cherts, shales and felsic to intermediate volcaniclastic lithologies; however, the source of the magnetic
anomaly was never identified. The stratigraphic sequence is northeast dipping and striking
approximately to the northwest. The regionally significant Barwidgee Shear Zone is interpreted to
strike just west of the prospect (parallel to stratigraphy), while multiple second-order, north-striking
shears cross-cut stratigraphy, possibly offsetting the stratigraphic sequence.
The recently completed RC drilling across Oblique has refined the Company’s interpretation of the
local stratigraphy and identified the primary source of the magnetic anomaly across the prospect
The linear magnetic anomaly across Oblique correlates with a 12-16m wide magnetite-chlorite
(altered) unit variably intruded by a number of intermediate porphyry bodies. The protolith for this unit
ASX Announcement 12th January 2024
Page 4
is unknown. A massive sulphide (pyrite dominant) unit, prevalent in historical drilling in the north of the
prospect, is likely the same unit but altered by reduced fluids.
The regolith across the prospect is interpreted to be a partially eroded in-situ regime with a thin veneer
of transported colluvium in places. Weathering is deep across the prospect, with fresh rock only
evident at vertical depths between 60m and 100m.
Mineralisation
The recently completed RC program has provided a more comprehensive test of mineralisation.
Geological logging suggests higher-grade mineralisation is associated with quartz veining and
sulphide alteration in combination with shearing and/or brecciation. Within oxidised to
transitional intercepts, mineralisation shows abundant quartz veining with associated vuggy/box work
textured, medium to coarse iron oxides, often seen with relict sulphides in transitional zones. Fresh
rock intercepts typically display quartz veining with semi-massive pyrite as disseminations, blebs and
laminations.
At the prospect scale, mineralisation appears to be broadly controlled by northwest striking (striking
300° to 310°) and northeast dipping structures slightly oblique to stratigraphy (striking 320° to 330°).
The intersection of this structural trend with stratigraphy would produce a moderate (45°) plunge
towards the north.
Section B in Figure 4 demonstrates the need to effectively drill through the target sequence across
the Oblique Prospect with a majority of previous drilling ending in mineralisation due to difficult drilling
conditions. YRLRC1177 provides a significant intercept of:
o
24m @ 1.8g/t Au from 60m
o
13m @ 1.7g/t Au from 86m (CYPFRC15) – Historic
This result is directly along the strike of several partial intercepts (drilling ended in mineralisation),
including:
o
o
12m @ 1.1 g/t Au from 84m (YRLRC1157) – ASX 25th October 2023
21m @ 0.96 g/t Au from 51m (YRLRC481)
Including 4m @ 1.9 g/t Au from 68m to EOH – ASX 9th March 2021
Current interpretations suggest the broad intercept in YRLRC1177 correlates with the interaction of
an oblique northwest striking, northeast dipping mineralised structure with the magnetite-chlorite
unit. This structure has been designated OBL01 (Figure 2). Previous drilling combined with the
most recent results suggests this structure is mineralised over 300m of strike extent and open to the
north. This represents a key insight from the 2023 RC drilling program that will drive the next round
of exploration drilling across the Oblique Prospect. Significantly, the OBL01 structure, when
projected along strike to the northwest and southeast, is critically un-tested, presenting new
structural targets for future exploration beyond the Oblique Prospect.
Section A in Figure 3 shows YRLRC1175, the deepest hole completed across the Oblique prospect
with an intercept of 31m @ 0.4 g/t Au from 163m, confirming the presence of mineralisation at depth
within fresh rock (noting that samples collected were wet with some volume loss). The same drill hole
also returned a high-grade intercept in the hanging wall of:
ASX Announcement 12th January 2024
Page 5
o
3m @ 11.4 g/t Au from 102m (YRLRC1175),
including 2m @ 16.9 g/t Au from 102m
This result represents a parallel structure within the hanging wall of the main mineralised trend.
Drilling to the south confirms the broader potential for additional mineralised structures to the south.
These intercepts include (see Sections C and D in Figures 5 & 6):
o
o
o
9m @ 1.9g/t Au from 63m (YRLRC1171), and
9m @ 1.0 g/t Au from 75m (YRLRC1168), and
13m @ 1.1g/t Au from 93m (YRLRC1169)
These results suggest that additional oblique structures comparable to OBL01 may be present
to the south and provide clear targets for follow-up drilling. In addition to this, historical drilling to the
north presents a number of trends comparable to OBL01, see Figure 2.

Exploration Target
The Exploration Target for the Oblique Prospect remains unchanged with these new results (See ASX
release 25th of October 2023).
Next Steps
Results from this most recent drilling program justify further exploration with future programs to focus
on identifying new and extending known mineralised structures, with a particular focus on where these
structures interact with magnetite-rich stratigraphy.
An initial diamond drilling program is scheduled for March/April 2024 to provide detailed information
regarding the host stratigraphy, structures, intrusive types and the nature of the magnetite-rich unit
across the Oblique Prospect.
In addition to this, the Company will assess options for capturing more detailed aerial magnetics
across the prospect to aid in geological interpretations and exploration targeting.
Subject to further analysis of the results and logged geology, follow-up RC drilling will be designed to
test the OBL01 structure and equivalent parallel structures along strike with a focus on completing
additional drilling in the northern half of the Prospect and further delineating newly identified structures
in the south. The aim of this work will be the projection of any newly identified structures into the
magnetite-chlorite unit to delineate high-priority targets for future drilling.
In addition to this, a broader projection of the interpreted OBL01 structure to the northwest and
southeast also presents new exploration targets outside of the Oblique Prospect. Subject to further
verification of the OBL01 structure in the next drilling program, the projected extensions will also be
evaluated as exploration targets going forward (see Figure 2).

LOOKING AHEAD
The Company has a very active H1 CY 2024 planned and is well funded after a successful $4 million
capital raise in November 2023, with priority exploration activities including;
1. Follow-up diamond drilling is scheduled for March/April across the Oblique Prospect;
2. The refinement of exploration targets for follow-up RC drilling across the 4.2km eastern
granite margin of the New England Granite (NEG) Prospect is underway. This will be assisted
through Exploration Incentive Scheme co-funding to support the completion of two deep
(400m) diamond holes across the NEG prospect. Drilling is being scheduled for April.
3. Preparation for RC drill testing Quarter Moon (IWB Project) in H1 2024.
4. Finalisation of exploration targets and drilling strategy across the expanded Gordons Gold
Project.
5. Awaiting orientation soil sampling results from Oblique. These results will be used to assess
the viability of a broader soil sampling program across the Project for targeting lithium-bearing
pegmatites. In addition to this, a review of the lithium-bearing pegmatite prospective for the
Mt McClure and Gordons Project will be completed in Q1 CY 2024.

Nature and quality of sampling (e.g. cut channels, random chips,
or specific specialised industry standard measurement tools
appropriate to the minerals under investigation, such as down
hole gamma sondes, or handheld XRF instruments, etc.). These
examples should not be taken as limiting the broad meaning of
sampling.

Aspects of the determination of mineralisation that are Material
to the Public Report. In cases where ‘industry standard’ work
has been done this would be relatively simple (e.g. ‘reverse
circulation drilling was used to obtain 1 m samples from which 3
kg was pulverised to produce a 30 g charge for fire assay’). In
other cases more explanation may be required, such as where
there is coarse gold that has inherent sampling problems.

•
A total of 39 Reverse Circulation (RC) holes have been drilled across the Oblique Prospect for a total
of 6,489m. 27 of these RC holes were completed by Yandal Resources for a total of 4,861m, while there
are 13 historic RC holes for a total of 1,628m. There are four historic diamond holes completed across
the Oblique Prospect, for a total of 717.9m. Drill holes vary in depth from 72m to 270m.
Yandal Resources (YRL) RC Samples were collected via a rig-mounted static cone splitter, splitting
approximately 12.5% of the total sample. Two splits are collected for each metre: a primary sample and
a duplicate sample. The primary 1m samples are then sent to a lab for further analysis. While the
duplicate samples are retained on-site unless submitted as a routine duplicate.
For historical RC drilling, sampling practices by previous operators are assumed to be industry standard
at that time. Sampling procedures would be comparable to those applied by Yandal Resources as per
the above but with variations in the type of splitter used, etc.
Historic core sampling procedures are unknown and are assumed to be industry standard at that time.
Historic core samples have not been retained by the project and are unavailable for review.
For YRL RC drilling, the cone splitter is regularly cleaned and inspected. The 1m bulk samples are laid
out in drill order. These bulk samples are regularly inspected for contamination, and the volume of the
bulk sample is monitored. These bulk samp
